Invisalign

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligners to carefully straighten teeth. This intelligent system works with your smile so that overcrowding and misalignment are things of the past. If you have crooked or crowded teeth, wearing traditional metal braces can be painful and embarrassing. Instead, you may want to consider the benefits of using Invisalign to straighten your teeth.

Why would Invisalign be needed?

The reason you might need Invisalign treatment is because you have misalignment or malocclusion problems. Invisalign works to straighten teeth and correct their positioning, so you can feel better about your appearance. Likewise, having perfectly straight teeth can be beneficial for your oral health as well. It is easier to brush and floss between teeth that are not crooked or crowded.

Who is a candidate for Invisalign?

To determine if Invisalign treatment is right for you, we’ll perform a thorough examination. Clear aligners are often best for teens and adults, since patients need to be able to commit to treatment and replace their aligners throughout the day. Invisalign is removable, and the trays have to be removed whenever you brush, floss or eat food. For most patients, Invisalign has to be worn for no less than 22 hours a day, though this will depend on your specific needs.

What happens during Invisalign treatment?

The orthodontic treatment process will begin with a consultation. We will take impressions at this appointment so that we’re able to make new Invisalign clear aligners just for you. You will be instructed on how to wear the aligners and how they should be removed. Most patients will be told to wear their Invisalign for about 22 hours a day, though this time may vary from one patient to another. You will then come back into the office after a few weeks to have new Invisalign trays made for you over the course of treatment. Invisalign is comfortable, invisible and works effectively to straighten your teeth.
